Using an ultra-compact to shoot this, couldn't slow it down more to get the motion-blur. Stil, not bad to be able to capture some movement. Especially since this is a slowing-down locomobile.

The old phrase 'like ships passing at sea' needs to be updated in this cosmo, bullet-train age.

Something about train tracks that makes me want to zip out the cam. Partly the colors, a lot to do with the lines and perspective I think.

Children make great subjects, especially in bright natural light apparently. Side-lights aren't too good because they gaunt the eye-sockets. I thought the dirty shoe my boy picked up would make a good point of interest; especially for obsessive moms to gasp at. My wife certainly did and I almost got smack over the head for it!

Coffee Oils

Ever wondered what gives freshly brewed coffee it's o-so-wonderful aroma? The next time you sip your cuppa, take a close look at the coffee oils floating up and you can almost see them aromatise right up your nose. This was a Hainan white coffee at Old Town. They have nice soft lights above to capture reflecting off the tar-black sheen of a 'kopi-O-kosong gao'

Reach for the sky

Probably the most over-photographed icon of Kuala Lumpur. Armed with my new RICOH R6, I couldn't resist it. Standing at the foot of the towers, all it took was a few seconds to reach for the compact on my waist, aim up, tweak a little and snap. Not too bad?

Noise was minimal at ISO800 (click on pic to see detail), and shooting single-handedly with baby in other arm, handshake was cancelled out by the nifty sensor-shift image stabiliser.

The thing I love about Petaling Street is the sights and sounds. This cauldron of chestnuts roasting has a wonderful rich burning aroma to it. Watching it go round and round is pretty hypnotic too!
